Fast Way To Burn Out In Recruitment
Before you jump in - Is recruitment for you?!
Imagine the scenario, you are running an international recruitment agency, you have worked really really hard, sifting through 100's and 100's of CV's finding the right candidates to send to your clients.
Happy Days, the clients love your candidates and arrange meetings The summer holiday is looking good with these fees. Don't let anyone tell you recruitment is a breeze, my experience tells me that dealing with people and getting them to do what you want is totally unpredictable, people will do what they want, when they want.
Interview day goes well, 5 candidates are made offers, brilliant, that's at least 18k in the bank for the summer... Start dates agreed.
With just 2 weeks to go, the first candidate drops out, they decided they could not bear to be without their partner. The holiday can wait until next year. Candidate 2 decides they will take the job, but through a different agency, strange how they never mentioned this before. The 3rd one was not successful in their application for residency, and the others were not truthful..The cupboard will be bare, of the 2 starters, 1 is fired for inappropriate conduct.
2 months later your cheque arrives for your surviving candidate, no sooner than you open the envelope you receive a phone call from the client informing you the candidate has left, he was home sick, and the terms state 90 day guarantee with 100% refund. The bank will have to be called.
Things could only get better after this experience and made me a lot wiser and with good recruitment software easier to carry on.
Without experience in recruitment and generally following my nose, I learned the hard way. if you are still tempted to start in recruitment, the right recruitment solutions and training will help you increase your numbers and avoid the pitfalls.
If I had more experience perhaps I could have saved a lot of time and with software for recruitment did it this way?

Visa Obviously if the candidate told you they were booted out of the
country before, you would have realised they would fine it hard to get
a work permit.
Office Culture - Give them the brochure and ensure they know how to behave. smoking in the office was banned.
Other agency - how many agents did they call?
Professionals do well as they treat their candidates as clients and make sure they work only with good calibre of candidates.
