What Makes The HP Color LaserJet 3800 Worth It?
The HP Color LaserJet 3800, with Q6473a is one of the few sub $1000 color laser printers in the market today. Most of its counterparts promised quality color print, but most of them ended up with prints that show a lot of discoloration. The LaserJet 3800 looks like a device that would change this fact. Let us look and see if it can fulfill its promise.
To start us off, let us look at its size and design. It has a footprint of 15.7 x 17.7 inches with a height of 15.7 inches. The device also weighs a hefty 59.7 lbs. Like most HP printers, the LaserJet 3800 has the same white and grey color scheme. The combination of its design and size makes it an ideal printer for any room size.
It is powered by a 533 MHz with a 96 MB RAM, which is expandable up to 544 MB. At its factory configuration, the device is powerful enough to handle anything from pictures to large documents. The RAM uses a 200-pin DIMM or DDR SDRAM, which quite common among laser printers nowadays.

Both of its paper trays can handle a total of 350 sheets. The total capacity for both is enough for average use.
With a max resolution of 600 x 600dpi, the HP is just about average. However, the ImageREt 3600 is what makes it stand out against other laser printers. The ImageREt 3600 is HP's world-renowned image optimization system that can improve the quality of any image when you print it. When we unboxed it, the package includes four 6000-page yield toner cartridges. The toner cartridges were black, yellow, red, and blue. Printing cost is also very affordable. The HP LaserJet with HP LaserJet 3800 cartridges prints each page at a rate of 2.2 cents for monochrome and 2.8 cents for color, which is very economical for a printer that cost less than $1000.
The HP connects through a high-speed USB port. It does not have a parallel port that older printers use. However, the HP package includes a 6.6 feet USB wire at no additional cost. The operational power consumption is around 737 Watts, while standby is at 48 Watts. Like most laser printers, it automatically goes in standby mode if it is in use.
Overall, HP Color LaserJet 3800, with HP 3800 ink is a rock solid printer. Both its performance and price makes it one of the best color laser printers around. In addition, the printing cost is one of the lowest we have seen in a sub $1000 color laser printer. If you are looking for an affordable printer than can print quality monochrome and color image at an affordable price, the LaserJet 3800 is a no-brainer. i allready tried pushing the white left button together with the cover sensor for ten seconds what happen is that all 3 light stay lighted. and nothing happen. thanks
