Use A Retail Cash Register For Better Customer Service
There are a number of factors behind the refusal of some small business to get a retail cash register including that they think they are too technical to use, too expensive or just not needed for their small customer base, instead they choose to use a calculator or an ancient manual till.
However there are many businesses which should not delay purchasing a retail cash register any longer as it could streamline business and organisation as well as providing a better experience for their customers.
Retail Stores
Each day a number of different transactions are made by shops so they should have a retail cash register to deal with this. When customers shop nowadays, they want o be able to hand over their cash and get a printed receipt quickly and with all the right details on such as a returns policy and the date of transaction. This is not too much to ask of a retail outlet.
Also, with the chip and pin era firmly established, any store that sells products that cost over £5 should have a card terminal attached to their selling equipment otherwise some people will end up walking out on a purchase that could have been tens of pounds in profit to you.
Cafes
Consumers are getting more demanding with every year that brings new technology and services. This is no different if we are spending our money in a shop or at a restaurant. We are still spending money. using a retail cash register in this type of business is sensible as it can smooth over communication between the kitchen and the front of house staff. You can take a digital terminal to the table on which to record the order, this can be sent through to the kitchen via the retail cash register and this way there is a log of all the orders taken and who took them.
The more general benefits of a digital retail cash register can help nearly any business. You are able to upload the names of staff members so that every transaction they put through has their name logged onto it, you can also set up an electronic clocking in and out system that allows you to effectively manage staff. There are hundreds more roles that the retail cash register can perform including designing and printing labels and receipts and managing stock levels.
Can I use a printing calculator instead of cash register?
I want to open a shop at a flea market but will only be open 3 days a month. Cash registers cost about $120 but a printing calculator is only $20. Since I don't know how well my store will do, what do you think about using the paper from the calculator as their receipt?
people might not even need or want receipts - you can get paper/carbon copy receipt books at office supply stores - a calculator will help if you have to calculate sales tax - just use a notebook to record what you sell and for how much - no need to go high tech - especially for only 3 days a month
