Five major printer brands are collaborating to make it easier for Singaporeans
to recycle their used ink and toner cartridges. Representatives from all five
printer brands poised to roll out the project with the first five

Lexmark have come together with the National Environment Agency (NEA) as well
as the National Library Board (NLB) to unveil Project Homecoming. An
initiative to recycle ink and toner cartridges, Project Homecoming aims to
facilitate the recycling of ink and toner cartridges by providing recycling
bins within 13 National Libraries islandwide. The project not only aims to
create public awareness, but has an end goal of encouraging a culture of
recycling among Singaporeans.This follows the success of a similar green
initiative held in Japan for the past three years where 4.4 million used
cartridges were collected. This generated a total of US$122,802 through
US$0.04 contributions by the printer manufacturers for every cartridge
returned, donated to the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). Pens
