The HP Color LaserJet 5500dn printer using 5500dn bulk toner is one of the printers that HP has built on the 5500 model. This particular version has HP's Jetdirect print server built in to allow for fast Ethernet two sided printing. The print speed of this model has been increased to the 21 ppm speed for both monochrome and color prints. As is common there is a delay for the first sheet. That delay can range from 18 seconds for an already warmed up machine to 2 minutes for a machine that must be turned on from the cold. A power saving mode does kick in after some time and can delay the first print about 45 seconds.
Connection to the computers in your network is made easy using the 400 MHz processor that is included with this machine. The print driver is a little slow during the installation due to its size. You will need enough memory on the computers for installation.
This LaserJet 5500dn replacement toner uses an in line color and black process that applies toner directly to the pages in a 600x600 dpi process that produces clear text and color prints. Colors are found to be both realistic and bright. Text is also crisp.
The printer as sold has two paper trays that hold a total of 600 pages. If more capacity is needed, an additional two trays can be added to bring the total capacity to 1,600 sheets. Envelopes can be fed through the MP tray with stacks of up to 20 envelopes being loaded at once. Paper from legal size to ledger size may be used for printing. In addition, transparencies, labels and card stock can be fed through the machine with little trouble.
Prints are stored in a 250 sheet output tray. There are no upgrades of this tray available from HP. In addition a sorter or stapler is not available for this printer.
This machine is capable of making two sided prints. The duplex printing capability allows these prints to be made without having to run the paper through a second time. You will have to staple prints yourself.
There is a one year standard onsite warranty included in the purchase price of the machine. Additionally, the machine is shipped with full toner cartridges installed for immediate printing. The package also includes the need software for installation of the machine with either PCs or Macs.
This HP printer works well as a workgroup printer. Prints are produced in an economical manner with LaserJet 5500dn cartridges. Crisp and clean prints are always produced with HP toner. Continued cost savings can be realized when purchasing online replacement toner.
What is the best way to digitize a large number of photos?
I have a large box of photos from my childhood (ie. pre-digital cameras) and I want to digitize them. Most are 4x6 inches in size, but a couple are different sizes. Is there any scanner that has a good feeder tray that can automatically scan a large number of photos?
Theres no scanner that I know of, but if you have photoshop you could record an action that would import the pic from the scanner, crop the image to 4x6 and then save it to your desktop. Look up tutorials on haow to record actions online if you have photoshop.
