Taking A Trip This Year? Get A U.S. Passport Card
If you want to enter the United States you must have a passport. Even U. S. Citizens have been required to have the passport book or new passport cardd to re-enter the States. The card is a less expensive option for people crossing the border by land or sea and returning from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean or Bermuda. Otherwise you must have the passport book.
This card form of a passport is a convenient size to fit into a wallet. It is not as expensive as the passport book yet it is valid for the same time period. If you already have a valid passport book, you can get the card for $20. Processing time for the USA Passport card card and book are about the same; however, it may take longer to get the card as it is only shipped by US mail and overnight delivery is not available.
If you have ever had any kind of passport in the past you can use the renewal form to apply for the card. Even persons that may not have had a card in the past, but have had a book will use the renewal form to apply for the card. If you have never had a passport in the past, you must use the initial passport application and visit a processing center in person. The correct form for first time applicants is the DS-11 and it is available at the State Department web site.
The US passport card includes a RFID chip. While no personal information is stored on the card itself, it does pull up your information from a secure database kept by the U. S. Government. This technology will allow Customs to access your photographs, as well as biographical information, that have been stored in the database as you approach the inspection station. The card has security features that are built in to deter counterfeiting, as well as forgery. It is also important to keep the card in the RFID blocking sleeve that comes with the card. This sleeve protects the card from being read or tracked by unauthorized persons.
The card is most useful for persons that live in border communities. It will allow them to cross the border for shopping or visiting and return home easily. Since it is not acceptable for air travel, people who do not live near the border may be better served with the normal passport.
The new rules about passports will also affect commercial cruise passengers. Whereas these travelers formerly were able to re-enter the country without passports, a passport is now required. Because of this, most cruise companies will require passengers to have a passport or card in order to embark on the ship.
If you are planning a trip outside of the United States, whether by land, sea or air, you will need to make application for your passport early in the planning process. The cost is $135 for a normal application. It will take three to four weeks to get your passport back. Most people will want to plan at least six weeks to ensure the passports are back on time.
Either type of passport is valid for ten years if you are sixteen years of age or older. Children under sixteen will have a passport that expires in five years. If you are considering travel any time in the near future, the sooner you apply for your passport card, the better.
ATI video card ,Cross fire is it worth it?
This is a follow up question from my last one would 2 Radeon 3850 cards get a better bench mark score than 1 4850 or because I have a 8600GTS should I just buy one more of those and is it going to be better than 2 3850's. One more question can you still SLI nvidia cards on a Crossfire motherboard
So what you are saying is that 1 4850 will be better for gaming and handle more than 2 3850's
and still don't get the prices the 3850's range from $150-$550 if I bought one for $150 is the performance going to be far less of the one that is $550
2x 3850s will probably bench higher, but it's not worth it for gaming, since the Crossfire scaling doesn't always work in games. For example, the 4850 single and 4850 in Crossfire get the exact same fps in one popular game (I forget which, but if you read some of the benchmarks you'll see), because the game doesn't scale at all with Crossfire. That's more of the exception than the norm, but there's an advantage to a single card.
The 4850 is definitely better than the 8600GTS. It's better than even the 9800GTX, and sits at a very attractive $199, plus whatever incentives like MIR, freebies, and whatnot.
No, you cannot run SLI nvidia cards on a Crossfire motherboard, nor can you do Crossfire on a SLI motherboard. You can, however, run single cards of either brand on any motherboard. A notable exception to the "either or" for CF/SLI is Intel's Skulltrail, which will allow you to both, but it's super expensive.
Wisconsin Voter ID Law May Force 84-Year-Old Woman To Pay $200 To Get A Voter ID (Think Progress)
For 63 years, Brokaw, Wisconsin native Ruthelle Frank went to the polls to
vote. Though paralyzed on her left side since birth, the 84-year-old "fiery
woman" voted in every election since 1948 and even got elected herself as a
member of the Brokaw Village Board. But because of the state's new voter ID
law, 2012 [...]
